Iowa Auditor's special investigation questions $251,200 in Tama County Human Resources spending, 2020-2025

A special investigation by the Iowa Auditor of State, requested by Tama County, reviewed the county Human Resources Department from January 2020 through February 2025. KCRG reported that it identified $81,376 in questionable disbursements of federal American Rescue Plan Act funds, $1,183 in improper disbursements, and $168,710 in unsupported disbursements where records were not sufficient to determine what was purchased.
