Compiègne mayor Philippe Marini faces three new 2025 corruption/favoritism probes, on top of a 2022 indictment in a waste-contract bribery case
Philippe Marini, mayor of Compiègne since 1987, has been under formal judicial investigation (mise en examen) since July 2022 for favoritism, corruption and illicit collusion as former head of the Oise intercommunal waste-management syndicate (SMDO), a case tied to Paprec CEO Jean-Luc Petithuguenin. In November 2025 the Senlis prosecutor's office confirmed three new preliminary investigations opened after a complaint and two reports from anti-corruption group Anticor, alleging Marini misused a city-funded chauffeured car for personal purposes and amended an Engie district-heating contract without competitive bidding while Engie sponsored equestrian events run by an association his wife directs.
