Rwanda's Chief Justice says corruption remains a major obstacle to fair justice; 56 prosecutors dismissed, a judge and two court clerks jailed.
During Rwanda's anti-corruption week in February 2025, Chief Justice Domitilla Mukantaganzwa said corruption 'remains a major obstacle to delivering fair justice.' Officials reported that over the prior five years 56 prosecutors were dismissed on suspicion of corruption (some facing imprisonment), and that a judge and two court clerks were imprisoned. Rwanda Investigation Bureau Secretary General Jeannot Ruhunga said 4,437 corruption cases involving more than 9,000 people were examined in that period.
